SeaLife has introduced the compact Micro HD, which is touted as the world’s first permanently sealed waterproof camera.

SeaLife’s new revolutionary ultra-compact Micro HD camera can be used above or below the water line and is guaranteed not to leak for the life of the camera.

The camera, which can be used above or below the depths, is 4 inches wide, similar to the size of a deck of cards, and features a rubber-armored design touted to be ergonomic for a variety of applications. The camera also has a built-in 2.4-inch LCD screen.

The base model stores 16GB of high-resolution images and 1080p HD videos, and the upgraded Micro HD+ model features 32GB of internal storage. Downloading images and videos is done with the included USB cable that attaches to waterproof contacts on the bottom of the camera. The Micro HD+ also adds Wi-Fi technology to allow wireless transfer and sharing of images and videos.

The camera has a permanent internal battery that lasts for three hours of continuous use and is charged via the USB cable. The USB port is an external contact port that can charge or sync while the camera is wet.

Instead of buttons, three large “piano keys” control the functions. Starting with a simple setup menu, users input their type of shooting, depth and lighting they’ll use. The dedicated video key starts and stops video recording with a single press, and while recording a video, still photos can be taken without interruption. Other photo options include rapid-fire of 10 images per second and continuous picture taking at preset intervals.

Colorful reference pictures are used to intuitively direct users through an Easy Setup Guide for optimal color correction based on the environment and lighting. The built-in 140-degree wide-angle lens allows for aiming and taking steady videos at 30 or 60 frames per second. The camera has a still image resolution of 13 megapixels.

External accessories are available for the camera, which also works with Go Pro-compatible mounts to rails, handlebars, boats and boards, allowing the user many upgradable options.

The 32GB Micro HD+ is available as a complete set that includes a 2000-lumen Sea Dragon Light, Flex-Connect Micro Tray and Grip.
